Every year on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month, the Chinese celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival. This festival originated in memory of the ancient patriotic poet Qu Yuan and has been passed down for more than 2,000 years. During the festival, people make zongzi (rice dumplings) - glutinous rice and fillings wrapped in bamboo leaves and then steamed to create a unique delicacy; they also hold fierce dragon boat races, with contestants paddling hard to the sound of drums, symbolizing unity and strength; and they hang wormwood at the doorstep to ward off evil and avoid disasters. The Dragon Boat Festival is not only a feast of food and carnival, but also a vivid inheritance of Chinese traditional culture.

May 31st this year is the Dragon Boat Festival. To celebrate this festival, Sedeke will be closed from May 31st to June 2nd.
